Why another blog?
We began our blogging experience a few months ago on our 40 Days for Life Bakersfield blog, and then started a LifeSavers Ministries blog a few months later. So why start another blog?
From the beginning I have intended to have a personal blog, primarily to share thoughts on scriptural issues (such as “glorifying Jesus“) which extend beyond the boundaries of our ministries. But I wouldn’t be taking the time to start this blog right now in the midst of a busy 40 Days for Life campaign if there wasn’t a compelling reason to do so right now.
The primary reason we are beginning this blog right now relates to politics. Because of the nature of both 40 Days for Life and LifeSavers Ministries, it is usually wise to avoid referring to particular political candidates on the sites and blogs of these ministries. The national leadership of 40 Days for Life explicitly forbids allowing partisan politics to become part of a local 40 Days for Life campaign. But our current political climate makes it necessary for us to speak out on some issues which may cross some boundaries.
No matter what role we play in any ministries, we still have the right to express our personal political views, including endorsing candidates for office.
It has become clear to me that integrity demands that we make our stand clear regarding the race between John McCain and Barack Obama. For the sake of our country and the future of our children, we plead with you to vote for John McCain for President (which of course includes voting for Sarah Palin as Vice President).
There was a time when I would not have believed that I could ever vote for John McCain. If you are a committed opponent of McCain like I was, please stay with us, because I think that our future posts will help you to understand our reasons for now supporting the McCain-Palin campaign.
