Little boy saved twice
Last summer as Terri taught during Vacation Bible School, she had the opportunity to pray with a little boy to place his trust in Christ as His Savior and Lord. I remember Terri’s excitement when she told me about the experience, but I think my response at the time was somewhat less than enthusiastic. The angels in heaven may have been rejoicing, but to me he was just another little boy.
A few days ago, we learned that there is much more to this little boy’s life story. His father told a friend how he had planned to abort his son. Apparently I was outside the abortion chamber that morning when he led his wife into this place of death, and I challenged him to “be a real man” by protecting the life of his child.
My words infuriated him.
Nevertheless, his anger spurred him to get his wife out of the killing center that day, and his child was saved. He didn’t tell us so at the time, of course, because he was too mad at us. It took him a long time to cool down, but after his baby boy was born, a spirit of gratitude overcame his anger. Looking into his little boy’s eyes, he is thankful now that we angered him enough that day to drive him to save his son’s life.
That little boy who prayed with Terri was the same little boy whose life God used me to save!
Passing this family in the halls at church, we had no idea how God had used us to make such a major impact in their lives.
This week at Grace Baptist Church, Terri is once again teaching Vacation Bible School, and the angels will rejoice for the little children whose lives are saved. Let’s rejoice with them too!
