A news report last night on KGET TV-17 focused on how a 14-year-old girl was allegedly traumatized when Terri told her that she was naming her baby “Britney” and put up a cross in memory of her baby. The true scandal, however, was that this girl told Terri that her father was forcing her to abort her baby, and that Bakersfield Police came out to talk to the girl’s father but apparently took no action.

Thanks to the generous love gift presented to us at the 40 Days for Life Closing Celebration, we enjoyed a beautiful cruise to Mexico for our 25th anniversary!
We spent most of our time on board the Sapphire Princess cruise ship, but our brief visits to Puerto Vallarta, Mazatlan, and Cabo San Lucas provided some extra spice to our celebration (with a few bumps in the road… literally)!

Pastor Fred Fies calls Tim and Terri Palmquist to the stage for a presentation
On the final day of the recent 40 Days for Life campaign, hundreds of people attended the huge Closing Celebration which was scheduled to end with a candlelight vigil. Pastor Fred Fies of McKee Road Baptist Church was scheduled to speak before the candlelight vigil, but he surprised Tim and Terri Palmquist by first calling them to the stage for a presentation. “It has been my privilege to witness their courage and dedication and we thought it appropriate tonight to thank them for their dedication to this cause,” Pastor Fies told the crowd.
Last summer as Terri taught during Vacation Bible School, she had the opportunity to pray with a little boy to place his trust in Christ as His Savior and Lord. I remember Terri’s excitement when she told me about the experience, but I think my response at the time was somewhat less than enthusiastic. The angels in heaven may have been rejoicing, but to me he was just another little boy.
A few days ago, we learned that there is much more to this little boy’s life story. His father told a friend how he had planned to abort his son. Continue reading →
I wish we had time over the past few days to get involved in the controversy over pro-abortion President Obama receiving an honorary degree from “Catholic” Notre Dame in South Bend, Indiana. As Jill Stanek has pointed out, this situation points to a much bigger problem in the Catholic Church.

We did not take part in a “Tea Party” tax protest on Wednesday, though perhaps we should have done so. During the Bakersfield protest, I was one block away at the bank trying to keep the ministry and family afloat.
Tax time hit us very hard this year, both personally and in the ministry, and our survival seems unlikely if you’re looking at the facts on a piece of paper. Some would say we only have ourselves to blame. Perhaps they are right.
