Something sweet from South Bend
I wish we had time over the past few days to get involved in the controversy over pro-abortion President Obama receiving an honorary degree from “Catholic” Notre Dame in South Bend, Indiana. As Jill Stanek has pointed out, this situation points to a much bigger problem in the Catholic Church.
The mention of South Bend actually brought some sweet thoughts to my mind, though. A few months ago we heard about the South Bend Chocolate Company cancelling a meeting where a Planned Parenthood representative was scheduled to speak.
I was looking for a way to express my appreciation to the South Bend Chocolate Company for taking this controversial stand against Planned Parenthood. With Valentine’s Day coming up, I decided to order some Cherry Blossoms for Terri. (Terri enjoys chocolate covered cherries and I thought that this would give me another opportunity to tell her “I cherish you” as I like to do whenever I give her a cherry.)
Terri loved the candy, but she doesn’t tend to each much candy at one time, so the Cherry Blossoms lasted from Valentine’s Day, through Terri’s birthday (March 27), all the way to our 24th Anniversary (April 28)!
With all of the effort the pro-life community puts into protesting (quite appropriately) against those who do wrong, it’s nice now and then to go to some extra effort to show appreciation to those who do right.
